#8 the most dangerous game

I feel that General Zarrof is a horrifying man. The way that he thinks his killing game is "fair" is just plain wrong.  Wanting to kill another human in order for Zarrof to have a thrill in order for the prey to be free is very in humane. This game is not fair as General Zarrof gives his prey only limited weapons and food to last three days while he has his pack of blood hounds and a rifle. He also knows the land a lot better than Rainsford knew. Over all, General Zarrof was a creepy, discusting man in my opinon.

Reading Response # 5

As I am reading the novel, Inside Out Girl, I have been visulizing what I read in my head. When I am reading a really sad part, for example, I am picturing the character, Len in a dark, gloomy, doctor's office sitting on a really uncomfortable chair that are always at the doctor's offices. When the doctor walks into the room, he has a sad, upset look on his face as he tells Len that he has a tumor. And as the thoughts are swarming through Len's head, I am picturing what he is saying. For example, when he starts to worry about his daughter and how her life will change, I picture a teenager wandering the streets searching for something that she can't find. Do you ever have those moments? If you aren't picturing things in your head as you read a discriptive part, then you may want to reread it over again because it could be a huge part that you are missing out on!!
                  P.S.-I sure hope that the book gets to be a little more interesting-it's starting to drag, again!

#7 the lunch date

I believe that when the lady went back to New Jersey, she would have brought back many rewards, not physically, but mentaly. I think she would not judge people as hard because she learned that no one is perfect and that everyone makes mistakes. Another thing that she would bring back is that she would probably learn that homeless people are not as rude or mean as she thinks they would be. When she accused the man of stealing, he could have walked away or started a fight with the lady.(verbaly)  I think that everyone that watched the video would also learn these same lessons.

#6 the marathon of hope- running into the wind

I believe that Terry Fox's journey would deffinetly fit into a quest chart. There would be soem great points for "Growing Up" like how he played basketball and how he never gave up his dream to be on the team. The "Call to Adventure" would have to be when Terry finds out about his cancer and looses his leg in the end. When he finally decides to run across Canada in order to raise money foe the CCS, that would also be a strong point. For " The Quest" I think that when he starts his journey would be the main point. When Terry passes away from the cancer spreading into his lungs, that would be another strong point. And finally, " Rewards and Triumphs" would have to be that even 30 years later, The Marathon Of Hope is still going on and thanks to Terry Fox, over $500,000,000 has been donated to cancer research. I think Terry would be proud.  So that's why I think that Running into the Wind would be able to fit into the quest chart.

#5 Operation Survival

When we were reading the story, I nodiced some clues that would lead to a turtle, but I finally clued in that it was a sea turtle at the last page. I felt really dumb when I turned that page and saw the turtle!  At first I thought the story had something to do with a thunderstorm! Was I ever off!!

Reading Response # 4

Just as I promised, I have yet again read another 40 pages in my book, "Inside Out Girl".  The author has yet again, surprised me. When the author discribed that one of the characters were sick with a tumour in his head, it shocked me!  The way that the author discribed Len's feelings when he found out about his condition, was so sad that it brought tears to my eyes. It makes you really think how the character and his family will cope. Right after I read that part, millions of things were going through my head about the book- What will happen to his daughter who has the learning disability? What will he tell his girlfriend? How will Rachel handle it if he does die?-and so on.  But I have nodiced too in other books that if something devistating like this does happen then all of the same questions start coming into your head! And if questions are not flying through your head when you read that certain part, then you have to read it over and over until the questions flood your brain!

Reading Response # 3

Well, here I am, agian talking about how great the book "Inside Out Girl" has captured my imagination.  The way that the author discribes the characters is amazing. She discribes the characters in enough detail that you understand the character's  look, but she leaves spaces out where you can create the rest of the character. For example:
                                        Len stood on the mat, in what must be his uniform, battered jeans and a white top-this time a creamy turtleneck.
              
   The author discribes the man's clothes, but not his face of hair, which the reader gets to imagine of.  Tish Cohen must do this on purpose so that the readers feel like they are almost creating the story as well
           Before I go to read, I just wanted to add in that the story is starting to pick up, and I am enjoying the story even more now that hopefully an interesting part will come up and make me write another blog soon!

Reading Response #2

In my book, "Inside Out Girl", there has been a little more detail, but not much. The book is really just still explaining the characters, setting and background history. (i.e.- When Len's wife died) Overall, I am still enjoying the story, so far. As the book progresses, the author is just starting to explain the lives of the characters in their past. For example, Rachel was talking about when she had a teenage pregnency and lost the baby when she was born. That story relates to the plot because Len's 10 year old daughter has N.L.D. which affects her learning abilities. Rachel was told that her daughter that she lost was going to have a learning disorder, just like Olivia has.
     If I could talk to one of the characters in the story, I would choose to talk to Len, a single parent who has raised his daughter, Olivia who has N.L.D. I would ask him questions like, "How was it loosing your wife when you just found out about your daughter's illness?' or, "Since you are a lawyer, has the craziness at work effected your realtionship with you daughter as she grew up?' I would also aks, "What was it like raising Olivia on your own, with really no help from your parents, as they could not handle Olivia's condition?"
      Like I said in my last blog, I am enjoying this book, but I hope that the story will pick up and get interesting.

Reading Response #1

I am reading the book "Inside Out Girl" by Tish Cohen. One of my favourite parts of the way the author has written the story is that it bounces from one person's perspective to another. One time you are reading from a single father's positon to a teenager's perspective. I can relate the this story. A single mother named Rachel is trying to care for her children and stay on top of work. My mom is a single parent who has to balance work and family times, just like Rachel.  It took me by surprise when I read how Len, a single father found out about his daughter's condition with a disease called nonverbal learning disorder. His daughter was only 5.
     So far, I am enjoying this book. I just cannot wait to find out what will happen next!
                           P.S.- Sorry that there is not much detail. The book is moving a bit slower than I thought!

#4- Perseus

Wow, The Myth of Perseus was in my opinoin, a good story. Some of the names at the end of the story were very confusing and didn't make any sence to me. The story plot was good, especially at the part at the end where the wedding was inturupted and a fight began. I thought the Grey Women were neat. I laughed when I read the part about how they share one eye and one tooth! That was neat. Over all, I thought that the myth was pretty good.  With our quest chart, I thought that my group did a pretty good job. We added a lot of detail to the writing and we even added in a few pictures for the audience's benefit. We also presented it in a very polite, great manner and I thought that we caught the audience's attention, event hough they had heard the same plot 3 times before. If I would have did this agian, I would have added a few more pictures to catch the audience's attention even more.

#3 The Homing Coffin

The story, The Homing Coffin  was an amazing story in my opinon. One of the main reasons why I think this is an awesome TRUE story about a Canadian star! When I heard that Coghlan was from a small village in P.E.I., it blew my mind away!  And another reason why I love this story is because of the journey that the coffin took. From Texas, through the Gulf Stream, and all the way up to P.E.I., Coghlan made it all the way back to his hometown! Talk about luck!! So, that's why I love the story, The Homing Coffin.

#2 Mella

When we read the story "Mella", I thought that it was a very unique story. One of the reasons why I thought   that this story was neat was because Mella was a girl. In many myths, the main character is usually a man because it was mainly men who would tell the story. I hope that you enjoyed the story as much as I did!!!

#1- This Is Me In Grade 9!!

Wow, what can I  say. The first week of grade 9 was pretty good... except for all of the locker drama!! I finally figured out where my REAL locker was about the second day. I got lost a few times in the first week, but thank goodness for my map and teachers!! LOL I kind of felt really tiny in this big school full of older students. Now we are the little fish in the big pond. I just hope that the next few weeks will go good!!


          P.S.- that barenaked ladies song about grade 9 is stuck in my head!! lol
